Kelsey Ash, 4th Grade

Room #1 707-743-1115

I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade at Potter Valley Elementary this 2020-2021 school year! I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade and Visual Arts in Texas for the past 5 years. To ensure tiered-instruction that meets each child’s individual needs, I have also obtained certifications in ESL, G/T and K-12 Art. Stem, hands-on activities and creative thinking are incorporated into lessons to encourage problem-solving and higher order thinking skills.

In my classroom, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and to become future leaders. Student choice is encouraged through assignment choice boards, class voting and class-earned incentives. I believe in project-based learning, where students can apply skills and concepts learned in a variety of different ways. As a class, we make connections across disciplines and to real-world applications. At the end of the year, students will research and present a "Passion Project" about a real-world issue of their choice and what can be done today to solve the problem.

Some of of projects students will create in 4th grade: Slide-show Presentation on a Cultural Holiday  Animal Adaptations Project
Personal Narrative "Bag Book" with Illustrations  Class Poetry Book "Passion" Project

Elementary students get to experience real art with our dedicated art teacher.

4th grade is full of fun!
