At Potter Valley Jr/Sr. High Schools students have the opportunity to stretch their imagination and develop their creativity through art, woodshop, welding, agriculture, photography, and more. In addition to their creative skills, students who are ready to take their education to the next level have the option to enroll in dual enrollment courses for credit toward HS graduation while simultaneously earning college credit.

Our art program introduces students to a wide variety of different forms of art and various materials such as wool, clay, watercolor, charcoal, pencil, and so much more. Students' art is regularly exhibited within the community and participates in different contests and events throughout the county and state.

Potter Valley campus is home to a small working farm equipped with a greenhouse, orchard, and various livestock which is incorporated into our agricultural CTE pathway curriculum and FFA program. Additionally, the school farm supports our Outdoor Education program which gives students the opportunity to learn both inside and outside of the classroom allowing for more unique opportunities to help keep them interested and engaged.

Our summer STEM Academy develops skills in science, engineering, and math, as well as field trips to visit colleges all over California. Classrooms and clubs take additional field trips during the year for cultural events to learn about natural resources, visit science exhibits, and to experience historic places. All classrooms have access to a full set of Chromebooks so that students can access the most current research while completing classroom projects.

Students can strengthen their bodies in P.E. and in competitive athletics. Due to our small student population, tryouts are eliminated from the sports program making it possible for all students to be on the team and participate.

At Potter Valley, we understand that people are always more important than programs, and we work hard to provide a learning community where students and staff work together to reach their goals. Our students have access to rigorous academics, interesting electives, and competitive athletics for everyone's involvement.

Seniors complete a self-directed Senior Project on a topic of their choice. These projects can range from job shadowing, planting a community garden, building an engine, hosting an art show in a local gallery, organizing a blood drive, and so much more. Community service is also emphasized and one of the requirements that must be met in order to graduate.

Above all, Potter Valley Schools strive to be a place where students and adults can work together, play together, and grow together.
