Become a Board Member
Have you ever found yourself wanting to become more involved in your community? Maybe you have some ideas on how to possibly improve our school district or additional things that we can offer to our students. If so, then serving on the district school board may be the right thing for you.
Taking a seat on your local School Board of Education provides an opportunity for you to contribute to not only your local school district, but your community, as well. As a board member you play a huge part in making decisions on behalf of the entire district, updating district policies, influencing district finances, forming stronger relationships, and contributing to the well-being of our schools, students, staff, and community.

A School Board Member is an elected position with a full term lasting 4 years. With that said, should you win a seat on the school board and you find yourself needing to cut your term short, you do have the right to resign at any time. When a trustee resigns early, the board will open up the seat for applications, interview applicants, and appoint a new member to complete the previous trustee's term.
Requirements to qualify:
-
Live within the Potter Valley District limits
-
Is not a current employee or a spouse of an employee of the school district
-
Does not live at the same address as a current district employee or School Board Member
-
Is registered to vote

If you have any questions specific to the election process or about your own voting registration/information, you must contact the Mendocino County Elections Department at 707-234-6819.

*The Board of Trustees will have 3 seats up for election in November 2026. Please consider running if you are interested in becoming more involved in our school district.
